Artist's Statement
There is usually a story behind all of my artwork. Sometimes it’s a short sweet moment briefly captured. Sometimes it's just playful and fun. Other times there's a visual metaphor to figure out. It is always a culmination of a lifelong journey of discovery. Originally trained as a painter and ceramic artist, I now work primarily in glass. My background with other media is reflected in the surface treatment of my glass work in that I often paint and draw on glass. Glass captures light and color in a dynamic interaction that is always changing and evolving based on environmental influences. The ultimate goal is that the art, as a universal language, conveys a message, feeling or story without need for written words. Like glass, our interactions with the world are dynamic, continually changing, and evolving based on time, seasons, and locations. As such, there is always a story to tell.
